Mathematical Modelling Position in Physical Oceanography

We invite applications for a Research Associate position at Imperial College London's Department of Mathematics. This role will involve working on mathematical models related to physical oceanography.

The position is supported by the Natural Environment Research Council, aiming to develop simplified stochastic mathematical models for different aspects of ocean circulation and oceanic eddies. You will use various mathematical techniques, statistical methods, and numerical tools to address geophysical fluid dynamics issues.

This project involves collaboration with UCLA and requires proficiency in programming languages. As a team player, you will contribute to collaborative research projects and supervise research students.

To be considered, applicants must hold a PhD degree or be nearing completion in statistics, mathematics, engineering, physical oceanography, or a related field. Experience in geophysical fluid dynamics, computational mathematics, and mathematical modeling is desirable.

You should possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills. As a researcher, you will publish academic papers and collaborate with international experts. The estimated annual salary is £33,000 - £35,000 depending on experience.
