Physical Oceanography Research Associate
We are looking for a talented Research Associate to work on applied mathematical models in physical oceanography at Imperial College London. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and applying mathematical models to understand ocean circulation.
The position is funded by the Natural Environment Research Council and involves collaborating with researchers at the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA).
The primary goal is to create simpler stochastic models for complex ocean phenomena, such as oceanic eddies and circulation patterns. To achieve this, you will employ a combination of mathematical techniques, statistical analysis, and computational methods.
Applicants must hold a PhD degree or be near completion in a relevant field, such as statistics, mathematics, engineering, or physical oceanography. The ideal candidate will possess excellent programming skills and experience in geophysical fluid dynamics, computational mathematics, and mathematical modeling.
We expect the selected candidate to work effectively in a team environment, communicate research findings clearly, and maintain high standards of academic integrity. In return, we offer a competitive salary and opportunities for professional growth.
Please note that if you have not yet completed your PhD, you may be appointed as a Research Assistant at a slightly lower salary.
