Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Mechanical Training Officer to join our team at the Ministry of Defence. As a key member of our instructional staff, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality training programs to military personnel in the field of mechanical engineering.

As an Engineering Instructional Specialist, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of defence engineering by developing and implementing training solutions that meet the needs of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver training and lessons to military students in the fields of Ground Support Equipment and Military Transport
  • Produce lesson plans and supporting course materials to support student learning in accordance with JSP 822
  • Participate in internal and external evaluation audits as required in accordance with the School's Training Procedures Manual
  • Ensure that the conduct, punctuality, discipline, and dress standards of all students meet the required standards
Requirements
  • Recognised experience and background in mechanical engineering (for example, vehicle workshops)
  • Desirable: Experience in a military engineering environment
  • Desirable: Familiarity with mechanical engineering management practices and trade policy
  • Desirable: Experience in delivery of training

We assess candidates against behaviours such as leadership, developing self and others, communicating and influencing, and technical skills such as sitting a mechanical engineering trade multiple-choice examination paper and delivering a presentation on a TG5 mechanical engineering subject.
