Job Summary

This is a permanent Chef role at Barchester Healthcare, a leading healthcare provider in the UK. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work regular daytime shifts with alternate weekends, providing a good work-life balance.

Main Duties
  • Assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well-balanced menus while working closely with residents to tailor the menus to their preferences.
  • Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, working within budget, and leading and motivating a team.
  • Work with fresh, seasonal ingredients to deliver high-quality and wholesome dishes cooked at the highest quality and standards.
  • Create a warm and welcoming environment within our home.

Job Responsibilities
  • Deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the split shifts and long weeks.
  • Assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well-balanced menus while working with residents to tailor menus around them.
  • Help manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence.
  • Work fresh produce to deliver high-quality and wholesome dishes cooked at the highest quality and standards.
Requirements
  • A personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents.
  • Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent.
  • Experience in helping lead and inspire a team.
  • A good understanding of nutrition.
  • Experience of working with fresh seasonal food.
  • The ability to create a warm and welcoming environment within our home.
  • Good understanding of HACCP.
