Job Title: Autism Support Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Autism Support Lead to join our team at Teaching Personnel. As a key member of our pastoral team, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Autism in our comprehensive secondary school in Bath.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement Individual Learning Support Plans to support students with Autism, ensuring they receive tailored interventions and access to academic and emotional support.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO and senior staff to coordinate Autism provision, implement and monitor interventions, and ensure students have access to both academic and emotional support.
  • Liaise with external agencies, such as CAMHS and SASS, to provide evidence for EHCP applications and maintain records of interventions, monitor progress, and adjust strategies based on student outcomes.
  • Run ASD tutor groups, write risk assessments for students with ASD/SEMH needs, and promote positive behaviour, engagement, and emotional well-being through structured activities.
  • Support students' transition between primary and secondary school with bespoke plans, facilitating meetings with parents, contributing to annual reviews, and providing feedback on student progress.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Relevant experience working with children (ages 11-16) with Autism in an educational setting, with a minimum Level 3 qualification in relevant education, childcare, or support fields.
  • Proficiency in literacy and numeracy, with a strong understanding of child development and SEND frameworks, and completion of ASC qualification or training.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, and additional training in specific learning strategies or first aid, are desirable.
Skills & Attributes:
  • Strong organisational skills, ability to manage multiple projects, and effective communication and record-keeping.
  • Ability to promote positive behaviour and well-being in students, with knowledge of SEND legislation and frameworks, and capacity to handle a dynamic, sometimes challenging, environment.
Working Environment:
  • The role involves physical activity, such as supporting students during lessons and managing classroom setups, and working both in and outside the classroom in various weather conditions.

Salary: Grade 5, SCP 11 - 15 (FTE £25,979 - £28,770)

Part-time, permanent role, 32.5 hours per week
