Role Overview
We are seeking a Behaviour Support Assistant to join our dynamic team at GSL Education. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in promoting positive behaviour and fostering a supportive learning environment for students.
About the Role
The Behaviour Support Assistant will assist in the implementation of behaviour support plans developed by teachers and SENCO, ensuring consistency and effectiveness in managing challenging behaviours. This includes offering one-on-one or small group support to students with behavioural challenges, helping them to understand and manage their emotions and behaviours in various settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing and implementing individualised behaviour support plans, working closely with teaching staff, SENCO, and external professionals.
- Provide targeted support to students with complex needs, using proactive strategies to promote positive behaviour and social skills.
- Monitor student behaviour and progress, maintaining accurate records and providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians, as necessary.
- Collaborate with teaching staff to develop and implement whole-class strategies to promote positive behaviour and reduce challenging behaviours.
- Assist teachers in maintaining a productive learning environment, providing support during lessons and promoting a culture of respect and inclusivity.
Requirements
- Experience working with young people in a supportive role, preferably in an education or mental health setting.
- Proven ability to establish strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- A commitment to promoting well-being and positive behaviour, with a deep understanding of the impact of mental health issues on learning.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to meeting the changing needs of students and the school community.
Salary and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary of £12,820 - £14,720 per annum, based on experience. Additional benefits include:
