About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Thames Water as an Operations Liaison Engineer, where you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our water infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote a culture of safety and compliance across our operations, working closely with contractors to identify and mitigate risks.
- Support the well-being of our team members and colleagues, fostering a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Collaborate with project teams to ensure operational compliance requirements are met, and that our infrastructure is designed and constructed to meet the needs of our customers.
- Develop relationships with project delivery teams to ensure a culture of end-user involvement is embedded across our operations.
- Adopt a standardized approach to operational engagement, ensuring efficient governance and high-quality engagement with our stakeholders.
- Support the design process, ensuring operational layouts and functionality align with best practices.
- Facilitate critical design reviews, including solutions review, challenge workshops, HAZOP, HAZCOM, and SWIFT.
- Understand and agree on operational risks, outages, and schedules, ensuring these are effectively communicated and managed.
- Agree on-site access, mobilization, and availability of plant and personnel to facilitate construction, integration, commissioning, training, and takeover.
- Facilitate definition and agreement of TOCOPs and TWOSAs.
- Understand and agree on training needs of operational personnel and decide on training schedules with project teams.
- Liaise with project teams to agree on passing through key milestones, including start of construction, commissioning, and takeover.
- Liaise with project teams to agree on ownership and responsibilities during the takeover process.
- Agree on post-takeover works.
- Verify readiness for takeover and approval of Project Agreement Document.
- Support operations post-takeover to ensure benefits are embedded and operational requirements are met.
- Implement and manage improvements post-takeover, as needed.
- Contribute to Lessons Learned reviews from an operational perspective, ensuring results are used in future projects.
- Input to End User Satisfaction Surveys, feeding into continuous improvement.
Requirements
- HNC or above in an appropriate engineering subject or significant experience in a similar role.
- Experience in an operational role related to water/wastewater/networks, as appropriate to the specific appointment.
- NEBOSH General or Construction Certificate, SMSTS or IOSH.
- Understanding of the development of design, construction, and operation of infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects.
- Understanding of performance and quality management.
- Understanding of delivery Forms of Contract.
- Extensive operational understanding and experience across Thames Water.
- Knowledge of the challenges faced by operational teams.
- Ability to identify and break down system processes and operational and technological difficulties to assist in developing solutions.
- Experience in managing operational interventions.
- Experience in liaising with Capital Delivery project teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Technical knowledge of water/wastewater operations.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary from £40,000 to £55,000 per annum.
- Car Allowance.
- 26 days holiday per year increasing to 30 with the length of service. (Plus bank holidays)
