Job Summary

The Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Clinical Fellow to join our Paediatric Critical Care Transport Medicine team. As a Senior Clinical Fellow, you will play a vital role in the management of critically ill children and the transportation of patients to and from intensive care units.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of patient transfers, including giving advice at the initial referral call, coordinating logistics, stabilizing patients, and ensuring safe and efficient transfers.
  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care and transport services.
  • Develop and implement audit and quality assurance projects to improve patient outcomes and transport services.
  • Participate in the design and delivery of education and training projects for the NWTS education team.
  • Collaborate with tertiary centre paediatric intensive care staff to ensure seamless patient care and transport.

Requirements

  • Medical Degree and ST6 or above in a relevant specialty.
  • MRCPCH/MRCP/FRCA or equivalent and GMC registration with a License to Practice.
  • Experience in paediatric or adult intensive care and APLS.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate complex information to patients and families.

Desirable

  • CCT in a relevant specialty.
  • Experience in anaesthesia, including higher level paediatrics.
  • Experience in managing patients with congenital cardiac disease.

Skills and Abilities

  • Basic training in intubation, venous access, and arterial line insertion.
  • Previous experience in organisation and delivery of educational activity and audit.
  • Postgraduate certificate in Medical Education and simulation training experience.

Interpersonal Skills

  • Effective communication skills and team working skills.
  • Motivated and enthusiastic individual with excellent organisation skills.
  • Able to cope well under pressure and confident in dealing with emergency situations.
