Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Childcare Worker to join our team at Nugent, providing therapeutic residential care to young people with complex trauma-based behaviour.

Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary of £24,584 - £25,439 per annum, depending on experience. Job Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a staff team on a 24-hour rota, 7 days a week, to provide care and support to young people in a children's residential home.
  • Assist the Leadership Team in ensuring all aspects of the Children's Homes Regulations, including the Quality Standards, are implemented and adhered to.
  • Deliver care that is formulation-driven, participating in the development of psychological formulations based on trauma and adverse childhood understandings that inform and direct care provision.
  • SUPPORT young people to be kept safe through the relationships they form with staff, rather than physical restrictions, using models of complex relational care to prepare them for progression to fulfilling adult lives.

Requirements

  • Hold a Level 3 Diploma in residential childcare (or equivalent) or be willing to work towards this.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to supporting and caring for vulnerable and traumatised young people.
  • Engage in good child care practice.
  • Recognise and set limits of behaviour and provide controls to traumatised and vulnerable young people.
  • Handle emotional and physical conflict.
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to crisis situations and use initiative.
  • Understand the needs of children and young people and the stages of child development, attachment, and impact of trauma.
