This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the administration and management of the university's virtual and physical servers, systems, and software. As an IT Systems Administrator, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the enterprise-level IT datacentres and the critical services delivered from them.
You will act as a third-line contact and subject matter expert for new server and storage service requests and incident reporting, supporting a community of over 20,000 students and 2,600 staff based on campuses in Brighton and Eastbourne.
To be effective in this role, you will have:
- A degree in a relevant discipline or demonstrable practical experience in a hardware, server, and storage systems support role.
- Operating Systems (Microsoft Server and Linux based)
- Storage Technologies (SAN, Fibre Channel Zoning, RAID, Software defined storage)
- Networking and Network protocols (such as TCPIP, DNS, DHCP, FTP)
- Familiarity with Enterprise Backup and Recovery products and concepts.
