Senior Mental Health Support Worker Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mental Health Support Worker to join our team at Response. This challenging yet rewarding role involves working with adults who have a primary diagnosis of a psychotic illness often with one or more coexisting conditions.

The ideal candidate will have a detailed understanding of mental health and wellbeing challenges, as well as current approaches to mental health practice.

About the Job
  • Lead shifts, medication management, delegating tasks, managing incidents, and monitoring the health & safety of the project and residents.
  • Mentoring support workers, leading by positive example alongside having your own caseload.

The successful candidate will be required to lead shifts, take charge during incidents, and ensure all staff complete relevant health and safety tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead shifts, delegating set diarised and daily tasks.
  2. Take the lead during incidents, safeguarding, and complaints in the absence of the manager, ensuring policies and procedures are adhered to.
  3. Ensure all staff are completing relevant health and safety tasks.
  4. Mentor new support workers through induction including the completion of the Care Certificate and medication training.
  5. Respond to service phone queries and requests from both internal and external customers in a timely manner.
  6. Undertake assessments of referrals and attend regular assessment and risk management training.
  7. Provide emotional support, encouragement, and practical assistance to residents with daily living activities.
  8. Ensure risk is continuously assessed and risk management plans are kept up to date.
  9. Comply and remain up to date with all safeguarding policies and procedures for both Adults and Children and Young People.
Requirements
  • GCSEs in English and Maths (or equivalent).
  • Detailed understanding of mental health and wellbeing challenges.
  • An understanding of current approaches to mental health practice.
  • Good knowledge of how to support with referrals and assessments.
  • An understanding of equality, diversity, and inclusion issues.
  • IT literate with experience using MS Office packages.
  • A genuine interest in mental health and well-being.
