About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Category Manager to join our team at Amazon. As a key member of our category management team, you will be responsible for driving the growth and development of our EU Gardening and Landscaping Tools category within the Tools and Home Improvement business.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Category Growth Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive category growth strategy, working closely with cross-functional teams including Buying, Retail, Merchandising, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  2. Vendor Management: Manage a portfolio of top vendor accounts, serving as the primary point of contact and driving mutually beneficial partnerships to drive category growth and profitability.
  3. Negotiations and Commercial Terms: Lead negotiations with vendors on commercial terms, promotions, and other strategic initiatives to ensure optimal pricing and terms.
  4. Category and Vendor Performance Analysis: Monitor and analyze category and vendor performance data to identify opportunities and make data-driven decisions to drive category growth and profitability.
  5. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with other category teams, such as L&G, to ensure a consistent customer experience across the Tools and Home Improvement business.
  6. Market Trends and Competitor Analysis: Stay up-to-date with market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs to inform category planning and decision-making.
A Day in the Life
  1. Managing Priorities: Manage and balance multiple key priorities to drive category growth and profitability.
  2. Financial Analysis: Conduct deep dive analytics into financial reporting on business performance to identify opportunities for improvement.
  3. Vendor Engagement: Engage with vendor partners to develop their business with Amazon and drive category growth.
  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to develop customer growth projects and drive category growth.
  5. Annual Negotiations: Lead annual negotiations with vendors to ensure optimal pricing and terms.
  6. Vendor Relationship Management: Partner with AVS-Brand Specialists to lead the day-to-day vendor relationship and ensure delivery of the Vendor Improvement Plan (VIP).
Requirements
  1. Master's Degree or Equivalent Experience: A Master's degree or equivalent experience in a related field, such as business administration or marketing.
  2. Negotiation and Stakeholder Management: Experience negotiating with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and cross-functional teams.
  3. Technical Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Access or SQL, experience with Excel, and experience using data to influence business decisions.
  4. Account Management and Project Management: Experience in account management, project/program management, or buying, with a focus on driving internal cross-team collaboration.
  5. Business Analysis and P&L Management: Experience with business analysis and P&L management, with a focus on driving category growth and profitability.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. MBA or Equivalent: An MBA or equivalent experience in a related field, such as business administration or marketing.
  2. Senior Leadership Experience: Experience presenting to senior leadership, with a focus on driving category growth and profitability.
