Senior Building Surveyor Job Description

This role offers an excellent opportunity for a Building Surveyor to progress and work collaboratively within a vibrant team. The ideal candidate will have experience in managing client relationships and a specific interest in project management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver multi-disciplinary projects from concept to construction, meeting agreed targets, e.g., programme, budget, and quality.
  • Identify and agree project objectives with the Project Director, developing a strategy for achieving these.
  • Escalate and manage potential contractual/commercial risks to the Project Director at the earliest opportunity.
  • Utilize commercial manager support to understand contractual obligations and negotiate amendments.
  • Set objectives, define tasks for the project team, delegate authority, and agree risk sharing as necessary.
  • Actively manage the project, technically and financially, in accordance with corporate and business policies, directives, guidance, and procedures.
  • Lead the project team, building, motivating, maintaining, coaching, guiding, and developing the team, providing regular feedback and ensuring staff have necessary H&S training.
  • Assemble and own the project delivery programme and delivery plans, providing regular project reports to convey cost and schedule information.
  • Closing out the project on completion, archiving project documentation, updating market information, capturing and disseminating lessons learned, and ensuring a Client Satisfaction survey is initiated.
Requirements:
  • Chartered Surveyor (MRICS) or equivalent with demonstrable experience managing design commissions on large building/infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a team, demonstrating good leadership qualities.
  • Understanding and experience in deploying various forms of construction contract, particularly NEC3 and JCT, with experience in preparing Scope Definition papers, Project Execution Plans, Risk Registers, Change Control Logs, and Client & Stakeholder Management plans.
  • Experience of managing design projects to time, cost, and quality objectives, familiar with programming and earned value techniques.
  • Familiarity with BIM and understanding of 3D modelling tools for design and coordination purposes.
  • Holds a valid UK driving licence.
