Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Research and Development Chemist to join our team at NewMarket Corporation. As a key member of our R&D team, you will be responsible for developing and commercializing new products, as well as supporting cross-functional integration of activities across R&D, Business, Purchasing, and other supply chain functions on a global scale.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop products defining the manufacturing processes from bench scale studies with first-time manufacturing success.
  • Perform process conceptualization and techno-economic feasibility studies.
  • Develop fundamental correlations between process conditions and process chemistry.
  • Champion safe and efficient process research.
  • Support stage-gate processes to develop opportunities for product and process improvement.
  • Provide guidance for R&D during early product conceptualization to develop a testing plan consistent with the manufacturing process.
  • Assure that complete ISO documentation is maintained on all ISO or quality related activities. Participate in ISO related activities and maintain an up-to-date understanding of the ISO function.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering (or other relevant science field).
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of applicable process chemistry and/or engineering principles and application of those principals in a research and development environment typically acquired after relevant experience.
