Aerodynamics and Acoustic Laboratories
The University of Cambridge's Aerodynamics and Acoustic Laboratories are part of the Fluids Group within Division A. Our laboratories support research and teaching in all aspects of aerodynamics, hosting typically 5-10 graduate students and 5-10 final-year MEng project students, as well as Part II undergraduate coursework activities in the fluids subject area (typically 80-100 undergraduates per annum).

Key Responsibilities
  • Support experiments conducted by researchers and academics
  • Maintain and operate research and/or teaching equipment/apparatus
  • Provide technical advice and guidance to students and research staff

Requirements
  • Degree level education/level 6 vocational qualification or equivalent practical experience
  • Advanced knowledge of lab technician work involving critical understanding of relevant theory/principles
  • Practical experience of specialised laboratory activity and equipment
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Good IT skills and high degree of precision and accuracy

Job Specifications

The ideal candidate should have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, a strong background in mechanical engineering and laboratory practices, and experience working with experimental apparatus. Estimated salary for this role is £38,000-£48,000 per annum. Other benefits include flexible working hours and access to professional training programs.
