Hays Specialist Recruitment Limited is seeking an experienced Senior Procurement Expert to join their team as a Commodity Manager in a leading automotive manufacturing company in Preston. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing procurement / sourcing activity in a high-value spend area, ensuring that optimal value for money is achieved and key stakeholder relationships are managed effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage procurement / sourcing activity in a high-value spend area, ensuring optimal value for money is achieved.
  • Build key commercial relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement commodity strategies for the short, medium, and long-term.
  • Lead cost-reduction projects across key areas of commodity expenditure.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure Six Sigma projects are defined and implemented.

Requirements

  • Procurement experience gained within an automotive manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and management skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Confident at negotiation and influencing.
  • CIPS qualified or partially qualified.
  • Good ICT skills and ability to pick up new systems quickly.
  • Self-motivated, flexible, and team player with ability to meet deadlines effectively.
