We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our Safeguarding Team as a Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor. The role of Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor is multifaceted and requires a strong background in safeguarding and risk assessment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Progress cases to their full conclusion within the stipulated timeframe, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Support the triage of incoming safeguarding cases, providing expert guidance and advice.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments on individuals who pose a risk in the church context, identifying potential threats and developing strategies to mitigate them.
  • Prepare and implement comprehensive safety plans for individuals who pose a risk in the church context, ensuring the well-being and safety of all individuals involved.
  • Liaise with relevant agencies, including law enforcement, probation services, and local authorities, to ensure effective collaboration and information sharing.
  • Manage and support known offenders within the church community, ensuring they are held accountable and provided with necessary support and resources.
  • Contribute to the governance structure's safeguarding efforts, attending and chairing meetings as necessary.
Requirements:
  • A qualified social worker or equivalent experience in safeguarding, with a minimum of 3 years' experience in front-line child protection intervention and/or risk assessment of adult perpetrators.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures, with the ability to apply them effectively in a church context.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including church leaders, staff, and volunteers.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and information sharing.
