About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safeguarding Advisor to join our team at the Diocese of Leeds. As a key member of our Safeguarding Team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of children and adults within our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage Allegations of Abuse: Investigate and manage allegations of abuse, providing support and guidance to those affected.
  • Support Victims and Survivors: Offer emotional support and practical assistance to victims and survivors of abuse.
  • Progress Cases: Work with the Head of Safeguarding to progress cases to their full conclusion within the stipulated timeframe.
  • Triage of Incoming Cases: Support the triage of incoming safeguarding cases, ensuring that all necessary actions are taken promptly.
  • Collate Information: Gather and collate information regarding disclosures of abuse, allegations, or concerns.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments on individuals who pose a risk in the church context.
  • Prepare Safety Plans: Develop and implement comprehensive safety plans for individuals who pose a risk in the church context.
  • Case File Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date case files using our Diocese case management system.
  • Liaise with Agencies: Collaborate with relevant agencies, such as the police and probation services, and local authorities.
  • Offender Management: Ensure that known offenders within or returning to the church community are appropriately managed and supported.
  • Governance Support: Contribute to the work of the governance structure in relation to safeguarding, including attending and chairing meetings.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: A Qualified Social Worker or equivalent experience through working in Safeguarding, such as in a health, police, local authority, or probation setting.
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 years' experience of front-line child protection intervention and/or risk assessment of adult perpetrators, and application of risk assessment.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
