Mine Mechanical Engineer

At Saint Gobain Cristaleria, SL, we seek a Mine Mechanical Engineer to oversee maintenance systems and personnel at our Brightling underground mine, ensuring efficient, sustainable, and safe operations.
The ideal candidate will have experience in planning and coordinating maintenance activities, including shutdowns, plant analysis, and costings. They will also be responsible for managing allocated staff, providing mechanical expertise to production and management teams, and overseeing contractors and plant hire.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement maintenance plans, including shutdowns, to ensure optimal production and minimize downtime.
- Conduct plant analysis to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Manage and develop processes for maintenance planning, costings, and budgeting.
- Supervise allocated staff, providing guidance, coaching, and performance management to ensure they meet their responsibilities.
- Provide technical expertise to production, maintenance, and management teams to resolve mechanical issues and improve processes.
- Coordinating the use of contractors and plant hire to support maintenance activities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Hands-on maintenance experience in a drill/blast mining environment, preferably with experience in managing mining/heavy industry projects.
- Ability to work in a team environment with a focus on safety, following stringent processes and systems to ensure productivity and safety.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
