Job Summary

As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for investigating alleged offences across the Trading Standards function, gathering evidence, taking witness statements, and submitting investigations reports in line with service standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Investigate a range of alleged offences, including doorstep crime, fraud, counterfeiting, and environmental crime
  • Gather evidence, take witness statements, and conduct suspect interviews in accordance with PACE and associated codes of practice
  • Submit investigations reports in line with service standards
  • Work collaboratively with members of the public, partner agencies, and other stakeholders to achieve successful outcomes
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive knowledge of criminal law and procedures

Requirements

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in relevant subjects
  • Trading Standards diploma or equivalent qualification and/or experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups
  • Comprehensive knowledge of criminal law and procedures
