About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Healthcare Support Worker to join our team at Schoen Clinic York. As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will play a vital role in supporting patients with eating disorders and associated co-morbidities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist nursing staff in implementing patient care plans, adhering to NICE guidelines and best practice.
  • Develop and implement daily activities to support patient care plans, working collaboratively with nursing staff.
  • Establish therapeutic relationships with patients, promoting a safe and supportive environment.
  • Undertake regular physical observations of patients, providing feedback on their level of risk.
  • Support and supervise patients during community leave and mealtimes, including assistance with Naso-gastric feeding.
  • Liaise with Staff Nurses, Occupational Therapists, and MDT members to ensure seamless unit activity.
  • Report any concerns to Staff Nurses, upholding the highest standards of patient care.
  • Work within Health and Safety policies, adhering to Schoen Clinic guidelines.
  • Demonstrate awareness of safeguarding principles in all interactions with young people and their families.
  • Assist Occupational Therapists and Assistant Psychologists in delivering therapies, as needed, with nursing staff agreement.
  • Support other on-site services as required, contributing to the hospital's overall success.
Requirements
  • A good standard of education, ideally NVQ level 2 or equivalent.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain professional boundaries with patients.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience in MS Office systems.
  • Able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team, with experience of working sensitively with patients, carers, and relatives.
