Job Description:

The Health and Safety Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring a safe and compliant working environment across multiple construction sites in and around Cambridge. Working for a leading Tier 1 main contractor, the Health and Safety Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all health and safety protocols in line with industry regulations and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety strategies to mitigate risks and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  2. Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are taken promptly.
  3. Lead the development and delivery of health and safety training programs for site personnel, subcontractors, and management to promote a strong safety culture.
  4. Collaborate closely with project managers, site supervisors, and subcontractors to integrate safety measures into project planning and execution.
  5. Maintain accurate records of health and safety documentation, including risk assessments, method statements, training records, and incident reports.
  6. Provide leadership during safety committee meetings and participate in project team meetings to promote a safety-first culture.
  7. Stay up-to-date with the latest health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry best practices to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent health and safety qualifications.
  2. Significant experience in a health and safety role within the construction industry, preferably with a Tier 1 main contractor.
  3. In-depth knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and CDM regulations.
  4. Proven ability to manage health and safety on large, complex construction projects.
  5. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  6. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a proactive approach to risk management.

Additional Requirements:

  1. Full UK driving license and willingness to travel to various sites in the Cambridge area.
  2. A positive and proactive attitude towards maintaining and improving health and safety standards.
