Pain Management Consultant

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Pain Management Consultant to join our multidisciplinary team at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. The successful candidate will provide clinical input to both the acute in-patient service and the chronic pain management service, working closely with Consultants, Nurses, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, and Admin colleagues.
About the RoleThe postholder will lead the In-patient Acute Pain Service, working with a team of Specialist Nurses, and provide anaesthetic theatre sessions to maintain their skills and competencies. The role also involves working with a range of evidence-based approaches to improve quality of life for patients with longstanding pain.
Key Responsibilities- Provide clinical input to both the acute in-patient service and the chronic pain management service
- Lead the In-patient Acute Pain Service, working with a team of Specialist Nurses
- Provide anaesthetic theatre sessions to maintain skills and competencies
- Work with a range of evidence-based approaches to improve quality of life for patients with longstanding pain
We are looking for a candidate with:
- Full registration with the General Medical Council
- FRCA or equivalent (included on the GMC's Specialist Register in Anesthetics)
- Clinical Experience and training equivalent to Advanced Specialist Training in Pain Medicine
- ACLS / ALS
We would also like to see:
- MSc or MD or PhD
- Management training Course
- Excellent clinical skills, including community care and hospital-based practice
- Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, and good networking skills
