Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Pain Management Consultant to join our multidisciplinary team at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. As an Acute Pain Lead Specialist, you will provide clinical input to both the acute in-patient service and the chronic pain management service.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have excellent clinical skills, including community care and hospital-based practice. They will also possess excellent communication skills, verbal and written, and good networking skills. The ability to motivate, inspire, and support a multiprofessional team is essential, as is the ability to work effectively and sensitively within it.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical input to both the acute in-patient service and the chronic pain management service.
  • Lead the In-patient Acute Pain Service working with a team of Specialist Nurses.
  • Maintain skills and competencies in the anaesthetic management of patients through an unaesthetic theatre session.
  • Work collaboratively with other agencies to provide a comprehensive pain service to all surgical specialties in the Trust.
Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Full registration with the General Medical Council.
  • FRCA or equivalent (included on the GMC's Specialist Register in Anesthetics).
  • Clinical Experience and training equivalent to Advanced Specialist Training in Pain Medicine.
  • ACLS / ALS.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills

The following qualifications and skills are desirable:

  • MSc or MD or PhD.
  • Management training Course.
  • Membership of the British Pain Society.
