About the Opportunity
This exciting opportunity is available to join a dynamic research programme on Emerging Space Technologies at the University of Glasgow. The successful candidate will play a leading role in supporting our research theme on in-space manufacturing, building on recent advances and involving both modelling and experiment.
The project is part of a long-term programme of research associated with Professor McInnes' Royal Academy of Engineering Chair in Emerging Technologies. As part of this team, you will contribute to devising, developing and demonstrating new space technologies for the future. You will also support other aspects of our programme of research on Emerging Space Technologies.
Main Responsibilities
- Taking a leading role in planning and conducting assigned research individually or jointly, in accordance with project deliverables and group strategy.
- Documenting research output, including analysis and interpretation of data, maintaining records and databases, drafting technical/progress reports and papers as appropriate.
- Establishing and maintaining your research profile and reputation, including publishing research results in quality journals/conferences.
- Presenting work at international and national conferences, seminars, colloquia and workshops to enhance our research profile.
- Identifying potential funding sources and assisting in the development of proposals to secure funding from internal and external bodies.
- Developing and maintaining collaborations with colleagues across the research group and wider community.
- Leading team/group meetings/seminars/workshops and contributing to School research group activities.
- Organising, supervising, mentoring and training undergraduate and/or postgraduate students and less experienced members of the project team.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
- A PhD in a relevant field or equivalent professional qualifications and experience.
- A degree of independence, as illustrated by identifying project objectives, designing experiments and drafting papers.
- Ability to deliver quality outputs in a timely and efficient manner.
Salary and Benefits
The salary for this position is estimated at £40,247 - £45,163 per annum, depending on experience. This full-time post has funding for up to 3 years.
