Job Overview

The University of Glasgow invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to support our research theme on the development of new technologies for in-space manufacturing. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to the planning and conduct of assigned research, establish and maintain your research profile, and engage with colleagues across the research group.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our dynamic research environment and work closely with Professor McInnes' Royal Academy of Engineering Chair in Emerging Technologies. You will be based within the Space and Exploration Technology Group (SET) and have access to state-of-the-art facilities in the Integrated Space and Exploration Technology Laboratory (I-SET).

Main Responsibilities

  1. Conduct high-quality research in the area of in-space manufacturing, contributing to the development of new technologies and laboratory-scale demonstrators.
  2. Collaborate with colleagues to survey the research literature and environment, understand the research challenges, and develop a suitable research strategy.
  3. Presentation of work at international conferences and seminars to enhance our research profile.
  4. Take a leading role in developing and maintaining collaborations with colleagues across the research group and wider community.
  5. Engage in personal, professional, and career development to enhance both specialist and transferable skills.

Key Requirements

  1. A PhD in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
  2. Ability to demonstrate independence and leadership in research projects.
  3. Experience of making a significant contribution to academic activities and independent research.

The successful candidate will be employed on a full-time basis for up to 3 years, with a salary ranging from £40,247 to £45,163 per annum. We offer a range of benefits, including 41 days of leave and a flexible approach to working.
