About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Performance Optimization Engineer to join our F1 Evolution team at Aston Martin F1 Team. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in the development of our racing cars and drivers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performance Analysis and Optimization: Conduct in-depth analysis of racing car performance and optimize all aspects of the vehicle and driver.
  • Development of Performance Engineering: Contribute to the development of new analysis methodologies, tools, and techniques to improve performance engineering within the team.
  • Support to Peers and Other Engineers: Provide proactive support to colleagues and seek help from other engineers as needed.
  • Event Support: Attend all F1 Evolution events at the track and related DILSim sessions, producing pre-event documents and post-event analysis.
  • Problem-Solving and Communication: Proactively discuss requirements and problems with other engineers, and be able to support F1 Race Events if required.
  • Personal Development: Maintain and develop personal skills and knowledge to ensure the best possible results.
Requirements
  • Data-Driven Approach: Strong understanding of all aspects of race car performance optimization.
  • Experience and Qualifications: A strong mechanical, automotive, or aerospace engineering degree and a minimum of five years' experience as a Race/Performance Engineer.
  • Problem-Solving and Communication Skills: Innovative and flexible approach to problem-solving, with excellent communication skills and the ability to work through problems in a scientific and analytical way.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with MAT Atlas and vTAG (or similar), Python, Dashboarding skills, Excel/VBA, and lap simulation software.
  • Teamwork and Adaptability: Ability to demonstrate good working relationships with internal departments and outside suppliers, and be available to travel as and when required.
