Job Description:

Durham College is seeking an experienced and motivated professional to join its Faculty of Hospitality and Horticultural Science as a part-time professor. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching a range of courses in Horticulture Technician, Food and Farming, Hospitality, Special Events, Tourism – Destination Marketing, and Culinary Management programs.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant degree combined with industry credentials (Masters is recommended), a minimum of five years of recent (within the past three years) and relevant work experience, and teaching experience at the post-secondary level with a demonstrated understanding and application of Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and current assessment methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver high-quality course materials and instruction to meet the needs of students;
  • Evaluate student performance and provide feedback to improve learning outcomes;
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and incorporate best practices into teaching and learning;
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement curriculum that meets the needs of students and industry partners;
  • Participate in departmental and college-wide initiatives to promote innovation and excellence in teaching and learning.

Salary Range: $60,000 - $80,000 per year based on qualifications and experience, depending on the specific requirements of the position. In addition to salary, part-time faculty members also receive benefits such as extended health and dental coverage, group life insurance, and tuition remission.
