University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a skilled professional to join our team as a Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioner (tACP) in our Stroke specialty.

The Hyper Acute Stroke Unit (HASU) is a 13-bedded ward dedicated to the prompt treatment and management of stroke patients. We are also the regional mechanical thrombectomy centre for the Wessex region and are currently the fifth top mechanical thrombectomy service in the UK.

As a Trainee Advanced Practitioner (tACP), you will work in conjunction with the 4 pillars of Advanced Practice as outlined in the HEE Multi-professional Framework (2017): Clinical practice, Leadership and Management, Education, Research.

You will need to have a high level of experience in acute clinical practice at band 5/6 Level/equivalent and have sound clinical knowledge whilst also demonstrating managerial and leadership abilities.

The successful candidate will be expected to complete an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice (Advanced Clinical Practitioner) under the support and guidance of our medical colleagues.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering advanced level of clinical practice within the speciality area
  • Working in conjunction with the 4 pillars of Advanced Practice
  • Completing an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice

Essential qualifications and experience include:

  • Registered Healthcare Professional on relevant part of NMC / HCPC register
  • Completion of Healthcare Degree (or equivalent - Minimum 120 credits at L6 or evidence of Masters level study)
  • Committed and eligible for participation in and completion of MSc in area of speciality

Desirable qualifications and experience include:

  • Completion of HTPA Competencies
  • Independent Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification
  • ILS trained
