Overview

The Scottish Government is seeking a highly skilled and experienced nursing professional to fill the role of Chief Nursing Officer for Scotland. This is a unique opportunity to lead the nursing and midwifery professions across Scotland and contribute to the development of health and social care services.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide strategic leadership to the nursing and midwifery professions across Scotland, focusing on the recovery and reform agenda for health and care services.
  2. Work in partnership with other Chief Professional Officers and Health and Social Care Directors to ensure the safe delivery of services and reduce health inequalities.
  3. Engage with stakeholders to develop solutions to key workforce challenges, including safe staffing, delayed discharges, and community care packages.
  4. Collaborate with the Director of Workforce to identify synergies and improve ways of working across teams.
Requirements

The successful candidate will be a registered nurse or midwife with significant experience in a leadership role. They will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
