Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced nursing professional to fill the role of Chief Nursing Officer for the Scottish Government. This is a unique opportunity to lead the nursing and midwifery professions across Scotland and contribute to the development of health and care services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership to the nursing and midwifery professions, focusing on the recovery and reform agenda for health and care services.
  • Work in partnership with other Chief Professional Officers and Health and Social Care Directors to ensure the safe delivery of services and reduce health inequalities.
  • Engage with stakeholders to develop solutions to staffing challenges, delayed discharges, and community care pressures.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Workforce to identify synergies and improve ways of working across teams.
Requirements
  • You must be a nurse or midwife, fully registered in the UK with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
  • Professional experience of leading and developing a nursing and midwifery professional workforce, with a focus on sustainable services.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders.
  • A passion for continuous learning and development, with a commitment to inclusive leadership.
