We are seeking an exceptional Theatre Practitioner to join our team at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
Based in one of the largest NHS trusts in England, you will have a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of healthcare redesign, developing a model of care that prioritizes patient safety, accessibility, and sustainability.
This dynamic role involves providing high standards of perioperative care to patients while supporting surgeons, anaesthetists, and theatre teams. As a Theatre Practitioner, you will need excellent communication, management, and teamwork skills, as well as a broad knowledge and skill base.
The successful candidate will play a crucial part in the surgical team by preparing equipment for surgery, ensuring correct safety checks, and being responsible for surgical instruments, equipment, and swabs during operations.
You will also be involved in anticipating the requirements of the surgical team and responding effectively to ensure high standards of clinical outcome and best patient experience.
In addition to your clinical expertise, you will support and monitor patients on arrival to the recovery area, provide appropriate treatment until they have recovered from the effects of anaesthesia and/or surgery, and assess and treat patients until they are discharged to a ward.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high standards of perioperative care to patients
- Support surgeons, anaesthetists, and theatre teams
- Prepare equipment for surgery
- Ensure correct safety checks
- Responsible for surgical instruments, equipment, and swabs during operations
- Anticipate and respond to the requirements of the surgical team
- Suport and monitor patients on arrival to the recovery area
- Provide appropriate treatment until patients recover from anaesthesia and/or surgery
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner
- Diploma educated
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Able to work on own and as part of a team
- Demonstrate awareness of own limitations
- Ability to organise workload and delegate appropriately
- Dexterity and accuracy in physical skills
Salary: Approximately £38,890 per annum, dependent on experience
