Job Summary:

NHS Lothian is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Registered Nurse for Learning Disabilities (RNLD) to join our multi-professional Community Learning Disability Team. As a Community Learning Disability Nurse Specialist, you will work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to provide a high-quality, comprehensive, and dynamic specialist nursing service to maintain and improve the health and wellbeing of children and adults with learning disabilities in a community setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of LD health checks across the city of Edinburgh.
  • Support two Band 5 nurses to carry out Health Needs Assessments on individuals with a Learning Disability, through all the GP Surgeries within the city of Edinburgh.
  • Work collaboratively with other professionals and agencies to provide a specialist nursing service.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with service users, families, and carers.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures related to learning disability nursing.

Requirements:

  • Registered Nurse for Learning Disabilities (RNLD) qualification.
  • Experience in learning disability nursing, preferably in a community setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-professional team.
  • Knowledge of learning disability nursing principles and practices.
