Consultant in Anaesthesia Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Anaesthetist to join our team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust. As a Consultant Anaesthetist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality anaesthetic care to patients undergoing elective and emergency surgery.
Key Responsibilities- Provide safe and efficient anaesthetic services for elective and emergency care at UHL.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and theatre teams to ensure smooth running of theatre lists.
- Support the Consultant-delivered Perioperative Medicine Service and high-risk anaesthetic clinics.
- Provide on-call rota cover for the High Dependency Unit and emergency theatre at LGH.
- Develop and implement new ways of working and providing anaesthetic care for patients in peripheral hospitals and East Midlands Planned Care Centre (EMPCC).
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions and contribute to departmental quality improvement activities.
- Supervise and train junior medical staff, and be involved in appraising and assessing juniors.
- Contribute to teaching, research, and administration, and proactively develop the service.
- Actively participate in both departmental and Trust matters concerning Clinical Governance and audit.

Person Specification- Full GMC registration and MB;BS or equivalent qualification.
- Fully Accredited for Higher Specialist Training or eligible for inclusion on the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date.
- FRCA or equivalent qualification.
- Current BLS Certification or equivalent.
- Excellent clinical skills and experience in anaesthesia, with the ability to apply sound clinical judgment to problems.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and supervise juniors.
- Experience of leading teams and awareness of leadership styles.
- Ability to effectively organise, prioritise, and manage clinical workload.
- Understanding of wider health agenda and modern NHS.
- Ability to work to overcome barriers to change (negotiating, influencing, and persuasion skills).
