Job Description

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Safeguarding Nurse Specialist to join our Endocrine Service team at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and delivering high-quality patient care, working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the provision of excellent services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Direct Patient Care: Provide specialized care and advice to patients within a defined caseload, utilizing specialist nursing skills to ensure sensitive and personalized care.
  • Nurse-Led Clinical Activity: Support the PCOS service across the Trust, including running nurse-led day case clinics, providing telephone advice, and general support.
  • Patient Education and Support: Meet with patients and their families at key stages in their pathway to provide individualized written and verbal information and support.
  • Ongoing Support and Continuity of Care: Provide ongoing support and continuity of care to patients and their families in hospital, clinic, and home settings, and by telephone contact.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work in collaboration with all members of the local and Specialist multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the provision of a high-quality, timely service for patients and their families.
  • Service Development and Improvement: Evaluate the existing PCOS service, identifying gaps and making recommendations for improvements and their implementation.
  • Education and Research: Maintain a professional awareness of developments in research, nursing practice, and current trends within the fields of PCOS/Endocrine Nursing.
  • Professional Development: Identify personal training needs and career development in conjunction with the Lead Endocrine clinician.
  • Quality and Data Management: Be responsible for complying with Trust and local Safeguarding policies and procedures, and for the quality of data recorded.
Requirements:
  • Experience in Safeguarding and Endocrine Nursing
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of current research and trends in PCOS/Endocrine Nursing
  • Ability to maintain accurate and up-to-date records
