Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our Endocrine Service at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing and delivering high-quality patient care to individuals with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide direct, specialized care and advice to patients with PCOS, utilizing advanced nursing skills and ensuring that care and support are sensitive to individual needs.
  • Develop and implement nurse-led clinical activities to support the PCOS service, including running nurse-led day case clinics and providing telephone advice and support.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the provision of a high-quality, timely service for patients with PCOS.
  • Develop and maintain patient information resources, utilizing the views of users and patient partnership groups.
  • Participate in Divisional, Trust, and Network committees and steering groups as required.
Leadership and Management

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Evaluating the existing PCOS service, identifying gaps, and making recommendations for improvements and their implementation.
  • Developing and implementing new policies and procedures related to clinical practice, based on current research findings.
  • Collaborating with the multidisciplinary team and lead clinician to regularly review Trust policies and ensure effective implementation.
Education and Research

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining a professional awareness of developments in research, nursing practice, and current trends within the field of PCOS/Endocrine Nursing.
  • Assessing the skills and training needs of staff and identifying priority areas for educational programs.
  • Promoting and demonstrating evidence-based practice, participating in audit projects, and encouraging and supporting staff in research and service development.
  • Identifying personal training needs and career development in conjunction with the Lead Endocrine clinician.
