About the Role
This exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data Compliance Engineer to join our specialist security team in Bristol. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our mobile data obligations are met in a cost-effective and secure manner.
Job Description
The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing systems that enable us to meet our legal obligations under the Investigatory Powers Act. This will involve working closely with mobile network designers and stakeholders across BT and government/law enforcement agencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure that obligations systems can deliver legally required information and services to Government, Law Enforcement, the Courts, and other authorized Agencies in line with relevant legislation.
- Focus on business data relating to the mobile network.
- Take ownership of network and system designs for mobile network data obligatory platforms, including owning requirements capture, design & implementation.
- Ensure all specific project work is compliant with Government legal requirements and policies as well as BT security standards and policies.
- Provide expert analysis of the meaning of obligations communications data, including providing support and complex case analysis, and liaising with source system owners to identify and resolve data feed issues.
- Track development of new products and services as well as the evolution of existing network platforms to ensure that relevant obligations capability can be maintained.
- Develop obligations system roadmap/evolution plans.
- Owning business relationships, acting as a trusted advisor, at a senior level internally, cross LoB and externally.
- Liaise with GSS compliance and Group Legal to support and ensure any developed capabilities are in compliance with legislation.
- Design and improve existing processes and systems through innovation.
What You'll Bring
- Knowledge of mobile network architectures and their associated operational support systems and data.
- Experience of solution design.
- Knowledge of the security measures required in order to protect systems/data.
- Knowledge of BT products and services, including their platforms and underlying network architectures.
- Knowledge and experience of systems engineering.
- Expert knowledge of end-to-end obligations system design, standards and applicable underlying security requirements.
- The ability to communicate complex legal/regulatory/technical information in simple terms for a wide audience with varying levels of background knowledge.
- The ability to work across the business with various technical teams ranging from architectural teams through to support teams in order to get obligations solutions scoped, designed and implemented.
- An inquisitive pro-active approach with a keenness to investigate and understand technical issues and implementations.
About You

Salary and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary of £65,000 per annum, plus benefits including a 10% pension contribution, discounted BT Broadband, TV & mobile packages, and a range of flexible benefits/rewards.
Security Clearance
This role is subject to security clearance, which is a condition of employment. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a security vetting process, which may take several months to complete. Once cleared, you will be required to maintain the necessary level of security clearance throughout your employment with BT.
