About the Opportunity
Mace is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Manager to join our team in Reading. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing the commercial elements and profitability of a major project.
Project Overview
The project involves the design and construction of a new 25,000m2 GIA Collections, Digitisation and Research Centre for the Natural History Museum. The centre will be located at Thames Valley Science Park and will bring together and secure the collections currently at risk of deterioration.
Your Responsibilities
- Administer contractual terms and conditions for suppliers and subcontractors.
- Manage incentivisation arrangements as appropriate.
- Oversee the assessment of EWN's and compensation events.
- Provide regular cash flow forecasts of expenditure.
- Manage the change management process and consult with other functions to assess changes and risks to the overall project outturn.
- Produce a monthly consolidated cost and expenditure report for the section of the project.
- Oversee the monthly valuation process.
- Review potential contractor and supplier claims and make recommendations for settlement.
- Oversee the finalisation of contractor's accounts and close out contracts for the project.
- Oversee the raising of consultant, supplier or contractor instructions as necessary for signature by approved parties.
- Oversee the financial contingency built into packages and ensure that contingency allowances reflect the current programme position.
- Provide commercial input to tender documentation as necessary.
- Oversee the payment of contractors.
- Ensure all instructions issued by the project manager are reviewed for cost implications.
- Support the change control process and assist in identifying the cost implications of any proposed changes.
About You
The ideal candidate will have a formal qualification in a relevant field, such as RICS, and substantial experience of commercial management. They will be digitally savvy, able to build lasting client relationships, and lead strong, motivated teams. A construction or project management background is essential, and a hunger to grow their career and take advantage of the opportunities Mace has to offer is a must.
