Job Summary

Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear (CNTW) NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist to join our dynamic team. As a Consultant Psychiatrist in Child Mental Health, you will be responsible for providing mental health services to children and adolescents within the Learning Disability pathway.

Main Duties

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide clinical leadership, supervision, and direct clinical work. You will also be responsible for managing referrals, effective multi-agency liaison, and undertaking local strategic management tasks.

You will have the opportunity to work with a dynamic group of experienced medical and non-medical colleagues who are committed to working hard for the benefits of patients and their families. There are significant opportunities to become involved in service development, and excellent links with local Universities with opportunities for teaching and research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical assessment and management of mental health disorders in children and adolescents
  • Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team
  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior staff
  • Work with partner agencies to develop formulation, diagnosis, and ongoing care
  • Contribute to service development and improvement initiatives
Person Specification

We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist who is eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of gaining CCT. You should have a strong background in child and adolescent psychiatry, with up-to-date knowledge of current issues in mental health service provision, policy, and legislation.

You should also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, patients, and families. A strong commitment to teaching and research is also essential.
