Job Summary

Cumbria, Northumberland, Tyne and Wear (CNTW) NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist to join our dynamic team. As a Consultant Psychiatrist in Child and Adolescent Mental Health, you will be responsible for providing mental health services to children and adolescents within the Learning Disability pathway.

Main Duties

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, providing direct clinical work, supervision, and helping to lead in the management of referrals. You will also be responsible for effective multi-agency liaison with various relevant departments and undertaking local strategic management tasks as appropriate to the post.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clinical assessment of children and adolescents
  • Management and treatment of mental health disorders in children and adolescents
  • Clinical leadership
  • Working with the multi-disciplinary team to develop shared decision making
  • Working with partner agencies to develop formulation/diagnosis and ongoing care
  • Clinical administration and report writing

Person Specification

We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist who is eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of gaining CCT. You should have up-to-date knowledge in the field of child and adolescent psychiatry, awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy, and legislation, and knowledge of current issues in national strategic direction for children's services.
