Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Integrated Physiotherapy/Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our team at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust. As a key member of our Integrated Therapy Service, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality rehabilitation services to patients in their own homes.

Main Duties
  1. Work alongside therapists to support patients' treatment sessions, following treatment plans set by qualified therapists.
  2. Contribute to the development, modification, and evaluation of individual treatment programs in conjunction with therapists.
  3. Deliver part or all of a treatment plan as prescribed by a qualified therapist, providing equipment and following treatment plans in patients' homes.
  4. Document each intervention in patients' case notes, as outlined in organisational policy and procedures.
  5. Prescribe equipment/assistive technology and minor adaptations to facilitate independence within agreed guidelines.
  6. Record patient contact statistics and assist with the day-to-day running of the department.
  7. Communicate effectively with therapy staff, other professionals, patients, and families, and maintain written or electronic records in line with relevant policies, legislation, and guidance.
Person Specification
  • GCSE Grade 4 or above in English/Maths or equivalent.
  • Experience of working within a professional caring situation, including experience of people with disabilities and working alone.
  • IT literacy, including email and internet, and experience of NHS patient systems.
