Assistant Manager for Hospital Operations

Your daily responsibilities will encompass:
- Fostering effective relationships with all members of the multidisciplinary team and Mental Health Act Administrators.
- Engaging with service users in a sensitive and effective manner.
- Communicating with a diverse range of health service personnel, including clinicians, nursing staff, medical professionals, and senior management, as well as external agencies such as solicitors and Independent Mental Health Advocates.
Hearing Responsibilities
- Members of the Power of Discharge Group will, after an initial training period, participate in hearings as panel members to assess detention and Community Treatment Orders. With further experience and training, members may be invited to chair review panels, ensuring compliance with the principles of natural justice as outlined in the MHA 1983 Code of Practice for Wales.
- Ensuring the validity of grounds for continued detention or community treatment.
- Those chairing hearings will be responsible for formally documenting the evidence considered, the rationale for decisions, and the decisions themselves.
- Communicating the reasons for decisions to patients and relevant parties involved in the review process.
- Recording any pertinent recommendations or comments arising from hearings.
Training and Business Meetings
- To enhance relevant knowledge and understanding, members of the Power of Discharge Group are required to attend training sessions and quarterly business meetings. These sessions will cover updates on legislation, implications of recent case law, Mental Health Act refresher training, and other pertinent topics as necessary.
- Participation in dedicated training events, including the annual All Wales Hospital Managers CPD event.
- Providing feedback and reporting any concerns to the Manager of the Mental Health Act Department or the Chair of the Hospital Managers Hearing Panel.
- Engaging in the annual appraisal process.
Organizational Responsibilities
- Ensuring confidentiality is upheld at all times in accordance with GDPR and Rushcliffe Care's policies and procedures.
Important Note:
This role encompasses responsibilities across multiple locations. A full, clean UK Driving Licence is required.

Candidate Profile:
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and appropriately challenge complex information presented both orally and in written format.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proficiency in writing clear and concise records.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to established guidelines.
- Computer literacy and access to a PC.
- Awareness of legislation related to the MHA 1983.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with others.
- Relevant life experience that will contribute to the role.

Compensation:
- This position offers a remuneration of £60 per session, along with mileage reimbursement at 45p per mile.
