Job Description

Brush Transformers is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to lead the development of our London office. As the Area Head of Commercial, you will be responsible for managing the operational team, securing work, and delivering projects to meet our business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the development of a regional office, ensuring alignment with company targets and goals.
  • Meet measurable turnover and profit targets, driving business growth and expansion.
  • Report to the Managing Director and Directors, providing regular updates on business projections and pipeline.
  • Prepare fee proposal documents, bids, and fee calculations, ensuring technical soundness and commercial viability.
  • Deliver major projects, ensuring satisfaction for existing and new clients, and anticipating further business opportunities.
  • Take a proactive role in marketing the business, bringing new clients to the company, and reinforcing our reputation and profile within the industry.
  • Liaise and communicate with group peers, representing Brush Transformers at corporate events and functions.
  • Research, develop, and innovate, ensuring the company remains at the forefront of industry trends and best practices.
  • Liaison on all issues relating to HR and training, motivating and retaining staff, and attracting good talent.
  • Appraise and update the Directors on market conditions, raising the profile of Brush Transformers in the marketplace, and facilitating pro-active inter-office and Group working.
Requirements
  • Degree educated in an Engineering Discipline with Chartered Engineer status from an industry recognised body.
  • Parties with alternative relevant skills, experience, and qualifications will be considered.

Experience/Technical Skills:

  • Strong technical skills with full awareness of mechanical and electrical building services and the interrelationship of MEP systems with Architecture and structural/civil engineering.
  • Proven background in the industry and track record of career progression and project success.
  • Experience of construction projects across various sectors.
  • Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Experience of operating in an ISO9001 Quality Management System.
  • Appreciation and experience of the Technical Standards and relevant British Standards.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and time management skills.
  • Strong marketing and business development skills.
  • Strong financial management skills.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and low carbon design.
  • Knowledge of Planning legislative requirements.
