Trainee Farm Trader Opportunity at Websters Rural

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a Trainee Farm Trader. As a key member of our sales team, you will play a crucial role in developing and supporting farmer suppliers, negotiating purchase contracts, and selling fertiliser, seed, and specialist crop contracts.

Position Overview

The Trainee Farm Trader will be responsible for managing and expanding existing farmer customer contacts while building long-term relationships with new customers in the area. This position is essential in maintaining and growing our business relationships across the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Farmer Supplier Development: Develop and support farmer suppliers aligned with our company values
  • Purchase Contract Negotiation: Negotiate purchase contracts within established price range and terms
  • Product Sales: Sell fertiliser, seed, and specialist crop contracts to farmers
  • Work Time Management: Plan and manage work time to maximise customer contact
  • Sales Enquiries: Respond and follow up on sales enquiries appropriately
  • Market Monitoring: Monitor and report market activities accurately and timely
  • Commodity Sampling: Coordinate sampling and testing of commodities for purchase

Requirements

  • Commercial Awareness: Demonstrates a high degree of commercial awareness
  • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail even when working to challenging deadlines
  • Relevant Qualifications: FACTS qualified would be desirable
  • Arable Farming Experience: Experience working in an arable farming environment
  • Farming Knowledge: Understanding of farming and the countryside
