Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Railway Systems Technician to join our team at Alstom. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective maintenance of our rail systems.
In this role, you will diagnose and rectify technical faults on the service fleet, perform preventative fault analysis and rectification, and provide technical support to depot teams. You will also be responsible for carrying out testing and re-commissioning activities on vehicles and trains in accordance with pre-written test and commissioning procedures.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring work is performed in a safe and effective manner in accordance with Health & Safety at Work Act (1974), Electricity at Work Regulations (1989), Railway Group Standards, and relevant ALSTOM Procedures.
- Providing in-service support to the fleet.
- Diagnosing and rectifying technical faults on the service fleet to ensure units remain in service.
- Preventative fault analysis and rectification.
- Immediate reaction to any reported issues for the in-service fleet.
- Providing technical support to depot teams in the provision of fault-finding expertise and assistance with train repair activities.
- Providing diagnostic and repairs on electronics and electrical systems.
- Holding extensive knowledge of 3-phase, single-phase, and DC power systems and control systems.
- Detailed recording of faults, fault reporting, data gathering, and verbal communication.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
Able to think critically and solve problems creatively.
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders.
Experience of working with railway systems and equipment.
Familiarity with health and safety regulations and procedures.
Knowledge of electrical and electronic systems and control systems.
Self-motivated and able to work independently.
