Career Mentor Specialist

As a Career Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting Care experienced young people (CEYP) aged 18-30 in achieving sustainable employment. Your primary objective will be to deliver high-quality interventions, effectively engaging participants and attaching them to existing and new employability programmes.
You will be responsible for delivering end-to-end Information, Advice, and Guidance to participants, ensuring they are well-prepared for the world of work. This will involve inducting, assessing, and on-boarding participants, promoting their emotional intelligence, self-confidence, and esteem.
Key tasks will include:
- Completing goal-focused action plans/ILRs for all referred participants
- Providing support and motivation for clients to implement their action plans
- Coaching participants on a one-to-one and group basis using the Catch22 Employability Methodology
- Preparing CVs, cover letters, and job/apprenticeship application forms with participants
- Introducing participants to a strengths-based recruitment approach to succeeding in job interviews
- Undertaking job search with participants using relevant web-based software and packages
- Shortlisting, pre-selecting, and matching/submittting participants to vacancies/work experience opportunities
- Preparing job packs on specific vacancies/work experience opportunities for participants
- Arranging interviews for participants where appropriate
- Preparing participants to a high standard for interview with employers
- Ensuring participants access additional training provided by Catch22 Employability, its partners, and other providers
- Successfully placing participants from a range of target groups into career-focused employment or education opportunities
- Engaging and maintaining regular contact with participants at agreed intervals to ensure they sustain their job or apprenticeship/training
- Delivering high-quality In Work Support, effectively sustaining participants for a minimum of six months
- Ensuring participants demonstrate and sustain progression into apprenticeships and employment or education
- Establishing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, including Local Authority PA's, Referral Partners, and interested parties
- Obtaining feedback and acting on regular feedback from participants and employers
- Utilizing the relevant case management and performance management system used by Catch22 Employability, including any ICT packages
- Supporting the delivery of Catch22 Employability/partner Events, Job Fairs, Workshops, and Seminars that prepare learners for the world of work
- Taking responsibility for delivering Catch22 Employability operational targets
- Ensuring case management/performance management systems are used effectively in accordance with the requirements of the delivery contracts
- Ensuring timely input and communication of key documents and information
- Ensuring contractual compliance is maintained to the highest standard at all times
- Ensuring Catch22 compliance is maintained to the highest standard at all times
- Continuously improving performance, contribution, knowledge, skills, and participating in training and developmental activities as required
- Implementing Catch22's Diversity & Equality policy statement
- Complying with Safeguarding/Prevent, Health and Safety policies and procedures
- Implementing Catch22's policies and procedures
- Carrying out other relevant duties as required
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Five GCSEs or equivalent at Grade C or above
- Relevant professional qualification
Desirable qualifications include:
- Experience of delivering services in the Employability sector
- IAG Level 3
- Member of the IEP
- ERS Level 3 Certificate or Diploma
- Coaching qualification
Catch22 offers a competitive salary of £28,000 per annum, 28 days annual leave + bank holidays (rising to 33 days with service), and a pension scheme with matching contributions of up to 4%.
