About the Role

Ocado Group is embarking on a transformation of its Indirect procurement function, with a focus on enhancing supplier management and achieving significant cost savings. To lead this initiative, we are seeking an experienced Head of Indirect Procurement and Supplier Management.

The successful candidate will be responsible for bringing Ocado's unmanaged Indirect spend under control, identifying key suppliers, negotiating rates, and implementing contracts to ensure relationships are managed effectively. They will also design and implement the company's long-term Indirect supplier management operating model.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the Indirect Procurement and Supplier Management Team in sourcing and purchasing, procurement and negotiation, and supplier management
  • Create the procurement and supplier management operating model for Indirects, incorporating a roadmap for the next three years
  • Develop and implement the Indirect procurement strategy, policies, and processes to standardize approaches and drive the best value for money for Ocado Group
  • Work with key stakeholders to drive adoption and adherence to the procurement strategy
  • Responsible for the regular review of vendors, setting their Tiering level, defining the review process, updating scorecards against expected services, and highlighting risks or issues where required
  • Collaborate with Ocado Group Legal and Finance functions to ensure policies and processes are being met and optimize these where required
  • Own the formal tender framework and activity for Indirect suppliers, ensuring unbiased processes meet Ocado's requirements
  • Responsible for the Indirect supply chain, ensuring required services are available when needed to support project and BAU activity
  • Operate as a thought partner with key stakeholders to solve challenges and seize opportunities
  • Lead a team of procurement and supplier analysts and managers, performing all required people management tasks

About You

Essential

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in procurement and vendor management
  • Proven track record of working with strategic suppliers to ensure services meet business needs and achieving this at the best cost
  • Proven record of cost management and cost reduction through supplier negotiation and rationalization
  • Consulting experience or a consultancy mindset, with the ability to analyze complex situations and bring order to complexity, engaging effectively with stakeholders
  • Relevant cross-category experience
  • Experience developing and managing supplier budgets
  • Experience leading teams, goal setting, and coaching and mentoring
  • Ability to manage multiple requests and demands in a results-oriented and changing organization
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of the organization
  • Comfortable engaging with senior business leaders to Board level and developing a thorough understanding of business processes and compliance requirements
  • Excellent critical reasoning, decision-making, and problem-solving skills to analyze situations, determine risks, and find solutions to prevent future issues and resolve recurring defects

Desirable

  • Formal qualification - CIPS Level 6 - or equivalent experience
