About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Beer and Cider Category Manager to join our team at Ocado Retail Ltd. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for managing our supply base and product range for beer and cider, ensuring optimal performance and driving sales, profitability, and share growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage supplier performance, identifying potential new suppliers and building long-term relationships
  • Analyse performance issues and opportunities using insight tools
  • Conduct competitor website visits and review customer insight and food trends to shape future product and range requirements
  • Source customer/market insight-led ranges and product innovation
  • Negotiate with suppliers to agree and deliver joint business plans aligned to the customer plan and category strategy
  • Negotiate supplier-funded media and deliver against targets
  • Plan and deliver trade, promotions, and events plans to exceed KPIs and drive customer penetration and basket spend
  • Work with the Supply Chain team to ensure best-in-class availability and timely delivery of products
  • Collaborate with suppliers and the category quality team to ensure product quality is achieved and maintained

Requirements

  • Substantial experience in a buying or procurement role
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills
  • Good commercial acumen and planning and organisational skills
  • Ability to communicate and influence a wide range of audiences
  • Results-oriented and a team player
