The Client:

A leading main contractor with strong partnerships across the retail sector, this forward-thinking builder is renowned for delivering new build, refurbishment, and fast-track fit-out schemes within the sector across the country.

The Role:

As a Site Project Manager, you'll be responsible for planning and organizing construction site activities with exposure to an exciting portfolio of projects, leading teams of directly employed and sub-contract labor, and ensuring timely and quality delivery of each project.

Note: projects are nationwide, and on certain projects, you may be required to stay away from home throughout the week.

  1. Overseeing all site-based construction activity on large-store-format refurbishments.
  2. Developing and enforcing safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for workers.
  3. Supervising and directing the construction team to ensure the project is completed on schedule, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
  4. Coordinating with engineers, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure the construction work meets the project specifications.
  5. Preparing and maintaining project documentation, including progress reports, construction schedules, and budget reports.
  6. Alongside a Quantity Surveyor, monitoring and controlling project costs, including labor, materials, and equipment expenses.
  7. Communicating regularly with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to keep them informed about project progress and any issues that arise.
  8. Resolving disputes and conflicts that may arise during the construction process.

Qualifications & Experience:

  1. Either formally qualified with a Degree, NVQ, or HNC in Construction Management and/or a suitable trade background (both is a bonus but one or the other essential).
  2. Previous Site Management experience working for a main contractor with a project scope covering retail projects is essential, specifically within either grocery retailing or high street fashion retailing.
  3. Experience working away from home is beneficial, but not essential for candidates who are willing.
