About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Data Warehouse Lead to join our team at Nationwide Building Society. As a key member of our Data Engineering function, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers responsible for the day-to-day operational running of our SAS Datamart.

This is a challenging and exciting opportunity to work with a large and complex data warehouse environment, delivering high-quality and governed data to stakeholders within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs). You will be working closely with data governance teams and the wider Data and Analytics community to ensure that the data remains secure, well-managed, and fully governed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of engineers responsible for the day-to-day operational running of our SAS Datamart
  • Deliver high-quality and governed data to stakeholders within agreed SLAs
  • Identify and resolve incidents when they occur
  • Adhere to and implement new controls
  • Deliver efficiency improvements and automation to existing processes
  • Maintain strong documentation
  • Drive best practice alongside our stakeholders
  • Deliver through our upcoming migration to SAS Viya
Requirements
  • Experience leading a similar SAS data warehouse environment
  • Full proficiency in the full suite of SAS products: Base SAS, Enterprise Guide, Data Integration Studio, Management Console, and Viya
  • Technical innovator with a curious mindset and a thirst for knowledge
  • Strong leadership skills with experience of collaborating across colleagues and teams
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • SAS Certification (preferably Advanced)
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies (preferably Azure)
  • Basic knowledge of SQL, Teradata, Python, and Databricks
